Future Cert IV PR students

Future students wanting to study Cert IV PR, you need to be passionate about the course. When you start the course don’t be in any illusion that you’re the only one that doesn’t know much about the subject because you will be same as your other colleagues. Be prepared to be set up for high standard of work because this course is known for students delivering good work.
One thing I assure you is that the lecturers are friendly and are always there to guide and put you on the track.  Sometime you will have people who will get to you, but just focus and do what you’re supposed to do. In this course there will be assessments that you need to do as a group, and one important thing is that you need teamwork to get the work done. There will be people who won’t contribute as much but are trying there best and you’ll have people who act like their doing everything and those who don’t do anything at all. The best thing to do is to continue with the work and try to do what you can do and let the lecturer know about it. Be positive and respect others ideas and thoughts, despite it’s different from yours

As a PR practitioner you need to make sure you NETWORK with people because it’s very IMPORTANT.

My PR experience of the semester.

I can’t believe I’m almost to the end of this course, and which I did not plan in doing.

First of all when I got the letter from TAFE saying I was accepted into the course I was not too happy because my first choice was to study Cert IV in Enrolled Nurse. But the sad part was I was two percent of the entry mark. I initially was hoping to get into Uni to Study Registered Nurse but didn’t get the ATAR score that I needed which led me into coming to Central Institute of Technology to study PR.
My first thought about PR is people who work with the public, like people who work for immigration and centrelink but that I was all wrong. PR is a whole different thing to what I thought of it. I have learn't that if you want to be a professional PR practitioner you have code of ethics that you needs to abide by, and you really need to know your stuff and be alert with the news 24/7, and it’s a never ending job because it doesn’t have a particular time that you finish, love to meet new people and always NETWORK with people because you will need them someday. This is something that is really essential as being a PR practitioner. At the beginning of the course being someone who didn’t have a clue what the course was all about was really difficult for me to take part in class discussions. Even though am not fully confident in presenting to large number of people, but this course has certainly helped to get rid of my shyness and improving my communication skills as an individual.

Obama agrees same-sex marriage

Wow! For me I was really shock to hear on the news that Barack Obama supports same-sex marriage.

It’s definitely a political move, it’s a stunt for him to get more votes. Same-sex marriage has become like a big talk in our society today.

I don’t really see this happening in the Australia elections because the Australian government don’t really bother about things like these.

In my opinion I don’t support for the word “union” to change the word marriage because I believe that marriage is for a man and a woman, not for both sex to get married. The word union and marriage are both similar so why change, if same-sex couples want to get married they can.

Back home where I come from such things like same sex marriage is not tolerated because it’s seen as forbidden. I believe that marriage is made for a man and a woman because God created Adam and Eve for both of them to be together.

My first real relationship <3

My fairytale of loving someone, as an individual it takes a while for me to love someone. I thought could never fall in love.

Well it was not till when I would say I had my first boyfriend and I could say we had a relationship, because my previous ones were just friendships. I came across this guy that I fell in love with at my New Year’s Eve party in 2010. At that time I was 16 years old and I wasn’t really into the whole boyfriend and girlfriend thing or even thinking of getting into a relationship. But this guy tried his best just to get me. First of all he added me on Facebook so we started talking from there. We talked like every single time on facebook just to get to know each other a little bit more. Several times he would ask for my number I would refuse, I was playing hard to get. But at last I gave it to him. From then on he would call me like every single day and we would have long hours of conversations on the phone. We then started to build up a close friendship.
I would call him and he would call me, and he used to tell me how much he loved me and stuff but at that time I only liked him as friend. He asked me out I accepted not with  all my heart because I didn’t want to hurt him. After a couple of weeks I told him how I actually felt about him, that I just wanted us to be friends. He was really upset because he really liked me, and I felt really bad. So for couple of weeks we didn’t talk. He didn’t give up, then we started talking again and he tried his chance for the second time this time I accepted because I actually liked him.
We would meet up after school and I would get in trouble with my mum, coming back home late. I would risk it just to see him because of how much I liked him. He was someone that I could talk to about anything and I felt comfortable we had that connection, and he was down to earth. He really loved me. But due to some circumstances we broke up last year before my birthday which was very upsetting.  Up till now even tho we not together we still  talk as close friends, and we both have some love for each other.
He was simply AMAZING!! xoxo

Not Using your common sense

To know that these girls are about the age 17 and they attend a private school, and go on to do such thing is just plain stupid.

These girls should have known the consequences after doing such thing. Thinking that doing a prank talking about offering sexually encounters to get money is just something I wouldn't do.The worst thing of all these girls were in their school unifrom and doing this and also the whole wide world can see what they have just posted and it's everlating. This have given the school a bad reputation. I can't even imagine  the thoughts of their parents about what they've done.

Steps I would take for awareness campaign in shool on the use of uploading, recording and sharing inappropritae materials on social media!

First of all you need to get a clear view of  children and teenagers that use social media.
Education of Departmaent should inform students  that uploading inappropriate things on social media has consequences behind it and can be there for ever.

In computers areas and around the school have posters to tell them the issues and rules of internet usage behind uploading inappropriate things on social media and also on the computers when they go to login.

In the school newsletter that goes home to the parents as many of them do read it so they can tell their children

House captains, student councillor can have a presentation at assemblies to inform students about the rules of internet usage.

Teachers, and class tutuors can have a talk to the students about the consequences of uploading things on social media.

Social media is becoming really big in our world today. At a young age the education department should teach  the issues and policy about social media to students. Parents themselves should talk to their kids about it. But it also comes down to the individual themseleves to know want to do and use their common sense of the bad and good when comes to the usage of internet and social media. Just keep this clear in mind don't upload, record and share any inappropriate materials on social media.

So becareful of what you do on social media because it can not be erased!

Allegra's legacy to save lives

While reading through the Saturday Weekend West I came across this article. I was really touched by the story of the tragic death of a six month old baby Allegra Scafidas. She was a healthy baby that was never sick and was regular with her vaccinations. It's was sad to know that she pasted away.

In May 2010 she died from pneumococcal disease, the upsetting thing is that Allegra was always regular for her vaccines and yet she was still affected from this disease and to know that she was not protected from the disease in her immunisation was a pity. The vaccine that could her life was not on the Australia's childhood immunisation schedule despite it was used in other countries.

It goes to show that the Australia childhood immunisation is not up to date with their vaccines. It took them a year after Allegra's death for the vaccine to cure the disease to be offered to Australian children.

The parents of Allegra was really devasted to what had happened to their baby so they decided to leave back a legacy for her. So they established the Allegra Scafidas Fund with Telethon Institute for Child Health Research by contributing $250,000 to go towards the research. These funds are to be used to set up a pneumococcal laboratory to have more research on the 90-odd strains of bacterial.

This goes to show that Allegra parents are concerned about the lives of other children that could be affected by the disease. Mr Scafidas quoted " We were unable to protect her and we only wish the vaccine that could have saved her had been available when she went for routine six-month vacination a week before she became ill". Allegra parents are very upset that the vaccination was not available for their daughter. The Scafidas want to give other children the oppportunity to have the vaccine their daughter couldn't have.

I am really happy to see that they're are doing something to help other children despite their daughter didn't have the chance. I am really glad to see this.

May Allegra soul rest in peace and all my sympathy towrads the Scafidas family, may her funds bring change to many children lives.

                                     Group projects!

We have now come to the part where we have to do group projects in Keith's and Holly class. In order for us to accomplish these projects we need to work together as a team.

These are some guidiance to how we can be a strong team to do our projects:

1) Share the work load evenly amongst each other.

2)  Allocate what every one is doing

3) Have team meetings regurarly to keep up to dateto what every one is doing

4) Every one should be enthusiate to do the work, and encourage others that aren't

5) Help those that are struggling

6) Every one should participate fairly

7) Respect others ideas and thoughts, even though their different from yours

8) When choosing a team consider everyone's strenghts and weaknesses

9) The most important thing is that groupmemebers should COMMUNICATE with eacother.

There might be some issues that we'll face during our projects but we have to saty strong and overcome thoose obstacles and try to work as a team. Some people might not put the same effort as others but be the smart one an do what your suppose to dom the accomplish the project.

COMMUNICATION IS ONE OF THE KEY FACTORS TO HAVING A SUCCESSFUL GROUP PROJECT!

Homeless people turned into WiFi hotspots is it a good or bad thing??

Well in my opinion I think this is a good idea of making homeless people as WiFi spots because it's a charitable fund that are helping the homeless people on the street. This is going to get most of the homeless people off the street and give them the hope that they have something to live for. This will boost off their self-esteem,confidence, hope of life and belonging in the society again. This is a great opportunity for them because now they can afford to buy food to eat, shelter and clothings. There are  a lot of homeless people around in our society today. So to hear that their are trying to help homeless people on the street is extremely good. Their helping them to be part of the community and giving them jobs  so they can survive. Technology is expanding day by day, it is incredible how technology has improved and gotten better. They used the idea of technology and using the homeless people to sell digital device and make them part of the community giving them the chance to have a life again.

In another way there's a turn down to this idea, the branding company BBH  by coming up with the initiative of  the Homeless hotspots are gaining profits. From the government because these homeless people need shelter and clothing so they will probably take some of the money.

The purpose of blogging in PR?

We are talking about blogs, a blog is a website where you can share your private thoughts, it can also be for various other things, it could be your personal dairy where you can share your stories to other people, a collobrative space,a breaking news, a collection of links where people who follow you can read what you write.

The first time I heard the  word"Blogging" was in this course  and I had no clue what blogging was all about and what it's used for. I have come to realise that blogging is a website/tool that is used world wide by companies and individuals to bring attention to their customers and the public about who they are.

Blogs are used by people from all walks of life, and it has become a very important medium of interaction through internet and dosen't have much costage of making it.Blogging offers a solid platform for companies and businesses to interact with their prospects/customers/clients which develops a place where their can get the thoughts of their customers to make their business better.

That's why there's a purpose of using blogs in PR, it's cost effective for companies and it's free communication but you need internet and you can get a mass audience. Bloggging also makes it easy for you to network with people who  can impact on your life/career.

In my own opinion blogging is very essential in PR because it's a good medium of communication to get your message across to you costumers and you can get their thoughts about their needs and wants. Then you can work to towards to improve your business. Networking is also much easier.

I hope I have covered the topic of why blogging is issential in PR?
